FLOWS – Finding Legal Options for Women Survivors
FLOWS is delivered by the Family Team of RCJ Advice, in partnership with Rights of Women. North East Law Centre has been chosen as a delivery partner in the North East.
What does FLOWS aim to achieve?
To ensure access to legal remedies, enabling women and children to protect themselves from violence, gain court-orders, access legal aid and navigate court-processes through supporting front line workers.
What has driven this aim?
FLOWS addresses a significant gap in the availability of legal-advice resources for front-line professionals in Women’s Refuges, Women’s Aid organisations and organisations that provide safe environments to disclose abuse: for example, local Citizens Advice services, Law Centres, law clinics, and court-based services such as PSU
Who is FLOWS for?
FLOWS is supported by Refuge, Rights of Women, Citizens Advice and Women’s Aid, and LawWorks clinics and PSU offices are also involved
FLOWS will engage with other agencies such as Police, Local Authorities, GP surgeries and community based organisations.
How is FLOWS Delivered?
RCJ Advice will provide front-line domestic violence agencies with legal consultancy and information via telephone and email:
Email: [email protected]
The consultancy will be staffed by 3 legally qualified staff.
In the North East, FLOWS is funding a Family solicitor based at the North East Law Centre to support women evidence their legal-aid entitlement, to access legal advice from appropriately qualified solicitors as soon as possible, or to secure pro-bono legal advice and representation.
